— ABOUT THE PRACTICE
Rooted in care,
grounded in evidence
A private psychology practice built around a simple belief: every person deserves thoughtful, individualized care and a clear path forward.
“Healing is not a destination. It’s a direction.”
— OUR STORY
A practice built around you
Pathway to Wellness Psychology was founded on the conviction that compassionate, evidence-based psychological care should be accessible to the communities that need it most. We serve adults in Frankfort, Illinois and Lowell, Indiana (two communities in the greater Chicago area) with in-person sessions at both locations.
We're a growing practice, which means our clients get the personal attention of a boutique setting alongside a real range of specialty services. Whether you're working through the aftermath of trauma, managing a chronic pain condition, or struggling with the daily grind of anxiety, we're here.
We believe in meeting people where they are. No judgment. No hurry. No one-size-fits-all.
Compassionate first
Seeking care takes courage. Every interaction here starts from that recognition.
Evidence-based care
Our treatment approaches are grounded in published clinical research, including CBT, ACT, and trauma-informed frameworks. We don't improvise.
Individualized treatment
No two journeys look the same. Your care plan is tailored to your unique needs and goals.

Dr. Lisa Pranger
PSY.D. — LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST
“The body often speaks what the mind has not yet been able to put into words.”
Dr. Lisa Pranger is a licensed clinical psychologist and founder of Pathway to Wellness Psychology, LLC. She specializes in trauma, chronic pain and chronic illness, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
Dr. Pranger completed her doctoral training at Adler School of Professional Psychology with a focus on the intersection of physical health and psychological wellbeing. That focus shapes how she works: she addresses psychological and physical factors together, rather than treating pain, illness, and emotional health as separate concerns. She also has extensive experience in treating addiction, adjustment disorders, grief and loss, and relationship challenges.
She founded Pathway to Wellness Psychology, LLC to address a gap she kept seeing: adults with complex, chronic needs and limited access to psychologists who understood the full scope of their experiences. She is committed to providing thoughtful, individualized care that helps clients build resilience, improve functioning, and create meaningful, sustainable change.

-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
CBT helps identify and reshape thought patterns that fuel distress — giving you practical tools to change how you feel and respond to life's challenges.
-
Trauma-Informed Care
All work at Pathway to Wellness Psychology is grounded in an understanding of how trauma shapes the nervous system, behavior, and sense of self — creating space for safety first.
-
Mindfulness & ACT
Mindfulness-based and Acceptance & Commitment approaches help clients relate differently to difficult thoughts and emotions — reducing struggle and increasing psychological flexibility.
-
Pain Psychology
Our approach to Pain Psychology integrates evidence-based methods such as Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to help individuals reduce fear of pain, retrain the brain’s response to pain signals, and develop greater awareness, regulation, and engagement in daily life.
-
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills
Our approach to care incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to help individuals strengthen emotion regulation, improve distress tolerance, and build more effective interpersonal and coping strategies in response to life stressors.
